Clean Water

After establishing our medical clinic in 2001, it quickly became apparent that the lack of clean drinking water needed to be addressed.
A microbiologist accompanied Mountain of Hope and tested the village’s water supply. The unusually high levels of bacteria were established as the cause of many of the diseases common to the area, resulting in high infant and adult mortality rates.
Following much prayer, Mountain of Hope raised the funds to acquire and ship a drilling rig to Honduras, and began drilling wells in and around Quince de Enero.
The health of villagers with access to the clean water dramatically improved, and mortality rates have been greatly reduced.

Pictured above, is one of the latest wells completed of over 100 wells throughout Honduras, giving access to clean drinking water and saving countless lives.
– The communities go through a vetting process to insure they can afford the supplies, labor and fuel involved for the well project. The community makes sure our Honduran drilling crew has a place to stay and provides their meals.
If a community cannot afford to complete the project or something comes up, Mountain of Hope will step in and help the community to complete the project.

Since Mountain of Hope operates its own well-drilling equipment in Honduras, the average cost to supply an village of 30-40 homes with clean water is only about $5,000.00.
